Question by Poodles4ever: Can you help me with a dog and vet question?
Someone said its the actual vet techs that put the dogs down, not the vet is that true?
I want to be a vet tech but if thats the case I know I could never do that job. Its one thing to be around it and even be in the room but to actually be the one that ends the life, I couldn't do that. Dog in pain or not I couldn't do that.
I always thought the actual vet did that (the vet put my dog down). Anyways I'm looking into becoming a vet tech but then I heard that.
Whats the deal

Answer by Caity
If you become a vet tech you will have to do it. Not all the time but it will come up. If you can't handle the death that comes with the job I would consider something else.

Question by : Can you help get my dog out of pain?
I have this poor little dog. She has some sort of skin condition that I always take her to the vet (every month) for a shot, but it is really expensive. Does any one know of anything I can give her to put her to sleep, so she doesn't wake back up? She is in so much pain all the time, and always itches herself raw, she would be so much better off put down. What can I give her to do it myself?

Answer by Ashley D
theres nothing you can do its illegal.its best to let a vet do that.

Question by dogman: Dog has pain in neck?
My min pin got stepped on around his neck area. A few days later he was in alot of pain. Took him to the vet they put him on pain meds for two weeks. Pain meds made him sick. Took him back and got x-rays. Vet said there was 3 possible spots that could be a ruptured disk. He said surgery would cost 1500-2500 each. They would have to check each area till they found the spot that may be hurt. So I told him I can't pay close to 8000 dollars for this. He put him on steroids and different pain meds. Dog got better after 3 days. Like new again. A few days after steriods were gone the dog went back to being in pain again. Went back to vet got same meds again dog all better till I ran out. I would rather see the dog put to sleep rather than suffer this pain.

Answer by sciontcmas
that is alot of money, obviously the steroids helped, so if they dont cost too much, perhaps the Vet will continue to give you those, or you can muster up the money,, sad really, im sorry.

Question by Filthy Rich: Dog in pain?
So I took my dog to the vet on Tues b/c he was shaking and in pain, the vet said he had "Patellar Luxation" or loose knee caps. Ive been giving him Rimadyl and he seems fine but now hes starting to tremble again.
I already gave him his pill for the day, what should I do?
Btw, his stomach seems to be chubbier than normal, that have anything to do with Rimadyl?
Best answer:
Answer by Nicky J
I dont think so... but you should have the doctor FIX the knee caps and if he says the dog is fine then take him to another vet!!!

Question by Luvwriterrz: What do i do with a dog in pain???
My dog is in a lot of pain. In about 30 minutes, he's will be getting a check-up @ the vet. What should i do to help comfort him @ the vet and @ home? He's shaking, wimpering, yelping, and refuses to eat and drink. He's cries if you barely tough him. PLEASE DON"T SCREAM AT ME and TELL ME TO TAKE HIM TO THE VET. I am doing that. If you know ways to help reduce pain and or know the problem, please post. I would take him to the vet right now if i could, but they don't open until 10:00 a.m., and he actually happens to be their first animal for today.
i made a mistake in my question. Tough should be touch. -sorry for the mistake.
I am only 14 and i am not sure what to do. My mom is helping me out with this and she'll be the one driving to him. We live so far out in the city, that the emergency vet is about an hours drive. The nearest vet, is ten minutes.
I have some good/bad news. The good news is that they believe that it is just an upset stomach, probably caused by from getting into the garbage the other night. The bad news is that they are not sure if that is the case, so my parents and i will have to monitor him. Thank you all who have helped me! Thank you for not screaming "TAKE IT TO THE VET RIGHT NOW!!!!!!!" Or something along those lines.
I am starting to become scared. I can guarantee you that cody does not have stomcach problems like the vet said, the vet told us to give my dog some baby liquid meds that help reduce pain. This morning he did not wimper when he walked, now he is. The vet is saying "leave him alone", "no need to take him the the emergency vet". But i know something is wrong. The baby meds that he advised are working right now though. IDK, if i am being paraniod or if this IS SERIOUS!!!!!!! PLEASE HELP!!!

Question by : Why is my dog in pain?
Earlier today when I took my dog ( 4 year old lab mix) for a walk he helped when he was climbing back up the stairs. I also noticed he had trouble getting up and wasn't moving as much as usual. I am very concerned and the vet in my area is only open a few days a week, not til Wednesday. What could possibly be wrong with him and how could I ease his pain until I can get him to a vet? ( btw if anyone has the nerve to even so much as imply that I would hurt or neglect my dog as I know people love to do, you will hear from me...)
Best answer:
Answer by elli
maybe he is just under the weather .. let him be dont force him to move or take him for a walk, watch out for usual symptoms, lethargy , feverish , drinking a lot or too less water , color of urine ... food intake .. all that and keep a note of it.. i hope your baby is ok
all the best
