Question by JP: If a dog bites you on the testicles, is there instant pain?
If not, how long until the onset of noticeable pain? I'm trying to figure out if a dog belonging to someone living next to our home bit me on the testicles as his stupid owner let him out and he jumped all over me. Thanks for any help.

If you didn't have instant pain I highly doubt he bit your testes. Honestly. You know how sensitive they are.

Question by NanaNibs: Is there any way that you can tell if a dog is in pain?
Unfortunately, they can never tell us how exactly they are feeling.
My golden retriever is 11 1/2 years old. She has a few lumps on her and has slowed down quite a bit. The vet told us we shouldn't be concerned about the lumps. But we really don't know how much longer she will be with us. I just wanted to make sure she is not in any pain. I wish pets could just speak to us!

Well they will show signs by crying, helping, shaking, etc. Also, if for example their paw is hurt, they will hold it up or keep it limp. There are warning signs when dogs are in pain and the dog will find a way to let you know

Question by Marietweety: Is there something you can give a dog to help ease pain with cancer?
I have a 10 yr. old female boxer who was recently diagnosed with stage 3 cancer. She has a tumor on her left shoulder blade. Lately she has been favoring the leg, only walking on three... is there anything out there to give her to help ease her pain?

I am so sorry to hear of your dog's recent diagnosis. Seems as if Boxers and cancer go hand-in-hand. How heartbreaking.

There are pain medication available through your veterinarian, so call your vet and let them know what is going on. It is however important that you realize at some point all the pain meds in the world will not even take the edge off her pain. I am not going to give you false hope here.

It is my guess the osteosarcoma has now spread down her leg and is eating away at her bone causing the lameness. Cancer sucks...

Question by Just The Way You Taste: Are there any natural forms of pain relief for a dog with arthritis?
My 8 year old husky has arthritis in her hips, are there any natural forms of pain relief that might help her? Massage, herbs, etc?
I ask because my dog has been on both Rimadyl (spelling?) and Deramax and they both make her throw up, so I was just wondering if there was something natural that would help her.

"Natural"? Do you mean drug-free options? If so, look into glucosamine/chondroiton supplements. Ask your veterinarian about dosing for her, and where to get it.

Question by anie*: Is there anything I can give my dog for arthritis pain?
She's a medium sized Siberian husky, almost 10 years old.
I remember seeing a commercial for a tasteless, colorless substance that you put in your pets water bowl and it helps with arthritis pain, but I don't remember the name of it, does anyone know?

Answer by Julie D.
Speak to your Vet about a medication called Rimadyl or another like it. This is a prescription med. Also, you can give your dog a Glucosamine/MSM supplement that is over the counter. We order Synovi/MSM chewables from KV Vet Supply.

Question by lollypopgurl_99_99: Is There Anything I Can Give My Dog For Pain?
He is on eye drops for this eye problem hes had for about a week now.
All I could really afford were the eye drops...and to get him checked.

Is there anything I can give him for the pain in his eye?
I heard you can give a dog baby aspirin..but not too much of it.

Anything I can just give him once a day to relieve some of the pain in his eye?
I normally have the money to take care of my dog. But right now, times are tough..and I am doing the best I can for him. Which is more then what a lot of people in my situation can afford.

I am putting his needs before mine..
Just because I can't afford pain medication this one time in my dogs whole 7 years of being with me...does not mean I cant take care of my dog.

So don't sit there and critisize me for it.
That is NOT why I am here..
I am not an ignorant animal owner. So I appreciate it,if you didn't treat me as one.
