My dog has had puppies and we gave them away at 6 weeks old. Ever since then Her milk producing area has been badly swollen and its hurting her. She won't eat or drink water she just mopes around and lays down slowly due to her pain. Is there anything I can do to relief her from that? or do I just wait? I would say to go to the vet , but let her relax all the time , and take things slow . Occasionally massage her stomach .

I had been telling my parents when I came over to their house to start thinking about putting one of our dogs down. He was old, going blind, and had tumors all over him. Last night, I get a call to come to the house, where he's dying. He was laying on a blanket, motionless, and I was told he vacated his bowels on the floor. I dragged the blanket over to my mother's side, where he would always lay and keep guard. He lay there for a while, and before he died, his mouth would open and he looked like he would try to breathe, but couldn't. His breathing was very slow, and his limbs were cold. I was petting him, and trying to comfort him as much as I could. When I noticed he had stopped looking like he was choking, I checked him again, and he was hard to the touch, and we found out he was already in rigor, and I was unable to close his eyelids.

Was he in pain before he took his last breaths? And what was he doing with his mouth - was he trying to keep hanging on to life or choking to death?
