My shih tzu (7 years old) got his leg stuck in his cage somehow and when I came home he was just laying there stuck. He is limping now and can move it when he needs to but doesn't walk at all on it.

one way you can usually tell if he is in pain, is to kinda try and touch his eye, of course after washing your hands so u dont infect him. And if he flinches away, or like whims or something, you know he is in pain, and i would take him to the vet.
