Question by Marietweety: Is there something you can give a dog to help ease pain with cancer?
I have a 10 yr. old female boxer who was recently diagnosed with stage 3 cancer. She has a tumor on her left shoulder blade. Lately she has been favoring the leg, only walking on three... is there anything out there to give her to help ease her pain?

I am so sorry to hear of your dog's recent diagnosis. Seems as if Boxers and cancer go hand-in-hand. How heartbreaking.
There are pain medication available through your veterinarian, so call your vet and let them know what is going on. It is however important that you realize at some point all the pain meds in the world will not even take the edge off her pain. I am not going to give you false hope here.
It is my guess the osteosarcoma has now spread down her leg and is eating away at her bone causing the lameness. Cancer sucks...

Call your vet he will be able to give you the proper meds to help her.
I am so sorry.
Your vet should have prescribed pain medication for her. You should contact him and request something.
You should be consulting your vet...not us.
You could have her put down then she won't have to hurt anymore. Otherwise ask the vet what you can do.
Yes Metacam, but if she's in pain, and going to have to live with increasing pain, and tumors that are inoperable, the kindest thing to do is to send her over the rainbow bridge, by having your vet give her a shot to put her to peaceful sleep.
Animals with cancer who are wild, just die, because they want to, but pet animals, stick around and suffer because we're crying and telling them not to leave us. That's really not fair.
Let her go to doggie heaven.
If surgery isn't an option to remove the tumour, then either your local vet or a referral to a canine oncologist, will be best placed to offer the palliative care your Boxer will require to make the most of any golden time she had left with you.
A heartbreaking diagnosis, best wishes for your Boxer.
