Always keep in mind that should consult with your vet before giving any treatments your dog with any drugs.

When a dog is in pain he will shake like he is cold.He will also not be very active. Also I heard that a dog's stomach can get twisted up and if that happens he needs medical attention ASAP
All of the following can indicate pain:
Limping
Scratching
Favoring
Licking an area
Unusual mouth movements
Turning the head to look at an area frequently
Running in circles
Erratic movements
Snapping at people, other dogs or self
Reluctance to get up or lie down
Reluctance to climb stairs or climb into a car (usually an older dog)
Panting for no obvious reason
Sometimes even just an odd look to the eye or face
When they tend to eat grass they can have pains or if they dont eat and drink alot of water
If they aren't eating, drinking, if they're just laying around, and are they whining?
it will probably moan. if it injurys hes leg or something it will probably limp
yes not being active, or having it's tail between its legs. When my dog started licking the wall so we took her to the vet and found out she had a bad tooth, just look for strange behavior.
Its difficult to know since your dog cannot tell you. Sometimes they pant a lot. If you think your dog is in pain, take him/her to a vet soon. It might be something serious though, outwardly, your dog does not seem to be in much of distress.
When a dog is in pain they:
# Fall asleep a lot more than normal
#they tremble
#Falling or fainting
Some dogs show discomfort & pain, some don't. A dog with stomach pain will often have a hunched-back posture, unable to get comfortable lying down, will lie down & shift around and get back up again. They may vomit, refuse to eat or drink, salivate excessively, pant excessively or whine.
If it is jest laying there THATS HOW YOU KNOW!!!
Normally they barf . What did he eat? Wood can jam up in the intestines and they will die after a few days. IF you are competent you can give your dog 2-4 teaspoons of mineral oil ONCE and see what comes out in a few hours. Carefully press on the stomach to see if it hurts. Great Danes have a stomach that twists and will cause death in a few days if not treated by a vet. Carfully examine your dog , think about it , does he poop?
Yogurt will help establish a proper bacteria mix in the gut ,if the poor dog ate spoiled food.
Jon: The Vet
... Take your dog to a vet, look closely at him, be very careful it may snap at you though. Feel around and if you get close to the spot, it will howl, but I'm afraid it will try to bite you. The best answer is get a vet to help.
