   Get him to a vet as soon as possible.

   take him to the vets asap as he could have some serious injuries, also watch both dog and child in future when they are together as it could have been the dog biting the child.

   seems to me he probably broke something or sprained something. if he whines he is in pain. take him to the vet emergency for some x-rays

   Definitely take him to the vet ASAP.
   He could have a broken or displaced rib.
   Could have injured an organ.
   He needs to be seen now to find out what the problem is and if it need immediate treatment/
   Don't wait trying to guess what the problem is while the dog suffers.

   Okay love, first off you need to check some things. First, is you dog breathing even and regular without any difficulty? Next check his eyes for dialation. Next check his gums to make sure they are pink and not white. These are things you need to let your vet know when you call. There are emergency places...I realize not everyone can afford them. If you choose not to take your dog in until tomorrow when your vet is available...call it in as an emergency and get put first on their list. During the night watch for all of the above that I have mentioned. It could be something as easy as a bruised rib, to a broken rib...and remember when ribs are broken they can sometimes puncture a lung. I advise a vet asap. I do wish you good luck, you are in my prayers.

   He could have a broken rib or he may have a punctured lung, any number of things, but the main thing is to get him vet help as soon as possible and to help him especially if he is in severe pain. You can't expect him to suffer with this pain all night so finding an emergency clinic is what you need to do. Call the vets emergency number and get the dog some help.

    It could have some broken ribs, which is very painful and it makes is hard for them to breathe. He may also have Internal Injuries in other areas. The dog is whining because it's in pain! I would suggest to you, that you turn off your computer and get this poor dog to a vet fast!

    Vet asap. If he is lying down and cannot rise, then when you transport him (if you must) slide a board under him - try not to move him unecessarily. But speak to a vet as a matter of urgency.
