Question by IDK85: Does My Dog Need Pain Med?
My Doggy a 40lb about 2 year old lab mix was spayed 2 days ago ( she was a stray and this is why the spay was so late , Ive Had Her For A Year) She Is Eating Only if i Make Her Boiled Chicken and Rice And drinking Water only when passed to her side. Shes not walking around the apartment but she does walk when i carry her outside.
My concern is that she cant seem to get comfortable enough to sleep ... she will shift every 10 to 15 min and she has been like this since she has come back . Am wondering if shes in pain
There were no pain killers given to me after the surgery and her stitches are a little red
what should i do ?
thank you
WORRIED MOMMY
"Maxi" you are just too stupid to read something and understand it correctly. My dog has not drunk water or ate anything on her own since spaying her. A concerned pet owner, like myself, will only let their pet go on without nourishing themselves for a few hours. I was told by the vet she should eat something by 6pm and drink plenty of water. My dogs water and food bowls are out, she doesn't move to them. As a concerned owner, I will give her water if she does not walk to it. She could be in serious pain you asswipe. You are lucky you do not accept emails, I see why you don't.
You are also very stupid because not each dog is the same $ h!t f@c3. Just like humans, some take it better than others. Two dogs were spayed in my home, one is fine and mine is taking it a bit harder.
I have called the vet and they said something could be wrong with her and to take her temperature. "MIA" do me a favor and slap yourself.
Thanx guys for your help. I will choose the best answer accordingly.

I would take her into the vet to be on the safe side.
After 2 days, she should be eating her regular dog food, and getting up to go outside.
The stitches site being a little red is normal.
My vet charged extra for pain pills but she NEEDS them anyway. Call the vet again and ask for a prescription!
Absolutely, she is in pain!
Did the vet give you a "cone" collar to put around her neck so she can't lick her stitches? They should have given you pain pills, too. Call the vet. Give her a baby aspirin (NO Tylenol) for the pain and watch her carefully in the meantime.
Yes a dog should get pain meds after a spay procedure. She might also need to go back to the vet to make sure there are no complications and see about the incision.
Dogs will try to hide pain, it's instinctive. But it doesn't look like your girl is having an easy time of things. Take her on in.
She is behaving like this because you are encouraging her to..........she is NOT ill she has just been spayed.......if she is not capable of walking then you need to get her back to the vets.......however I think if you stop treating her as if there is something seriously wrong she will just get on with life like the many thousands of dog do after being spayed
younger dogs get past the surgery easier, never the less she will have some discomfort she shouldn't normally need meds for the pain but an older dog maybe. Call the vet where you had the surgery done and ask them if these things are ok concidering her age and how long ago surgery took place it could take a bit longer for her to get back on her feet.
By day two she should be doing MUCH better. I think it is important to take her back to the vet. She may have an infection. Good Luck
Some dogs have problems coping with the after effects of anaesthetic. I had my b1iches spayed when they were younger than your little girl, in retrospect and in view of recent surveys, I think that I should have waited until they were older.
Regardless of the time in your neck of the woods, phone your vet for advise. However I suspect that your b1tch will feel better tomorrow. Nevertheless, I think that you should continue giving her a light diet for the next few days..
